Vernon Island comprises 22 acres of virtually untouched habitat with lush vegetation and mangrove foreshore. Also to the south west of the island there are some salt marshes which play an important part in the aquatic food web. It may be possible to erect some raised walkways through the mangroves and salt marsh.
